I recently bought a couple new horses, that i was thinking about pedigreeing...and i kno you have to kno the gentics and such...but i was wondering i want to use a real horse..Shine LIke Hail (R) he is sorrel, and i want to baby to be rose grey paint... would this be possible? or not at all, he would be quarter/arabian cross. any help would be appricated

There are several helpful color calculators you can use to check what would be possible foal colors from two parents The one I use is www.horsetesting.com/CCalculator1.aspBut for the basics, if you want the baby to be gray, one of the parents needs to be gray. And if you want the horse to have pinto markings, one of the parents needs to have similar pinto markings. So, if the sire is sorrel, then the dam will need to be a gray pinto in order to pass the genes on to the baby. Make sense? We can definitely help more once we see pics!

ya that does make sense. thats what i thought at least on parent had to be the same color as the foal.. thanks so much..
