I know how pedigrees, stud books, breeding lines and foundation lines all work in the horse world, but I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with seeing it in the model world.
Are pedigrees for models treated the same as they are for horses?
I want to start creating pedigrees and whatnot for all of my models, but I don't want to do everything wrong. I'm just confused as to whether you just pretty much establish everything yourself, or if you go out and find real lines that you want to add your horse into... or both?
The age thing is boggling my mind as well. If we select an age for our horse, are we expected to maintain that number or increase with time... and when it comes to "breeding" to outside models, how exactly does that work?
If you're in the know for this subject and have a moment, I'd really appreciate some tips for a n00b...
Thanks guys.

Age? you set the year the foal was born, from there the horse ages - BUT only if you want him/her to age yearly. Non-aging horses have a set date of age and normally they only have foals before that date. Non-aging works great on foal molds. This web site is a haven. It explains it all. Oh no you don't have to be a member either. www.ipabra.org/For doing pedigrees, I recommend using this site: www.sitstay.com/dog/supplies/servlet/PedigreeGeneratorView?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&langId=-1It is easy and very simple. For making simple pedigree's, I recommend using this site As for using real horses, Go for it. I do all the time.

Highroller gave you some great tips - I'm a member of IPABRA and their website is very helpful.
As far as using real horses for parents, I too do that frequently. If possible, I try to use model horses for the dams, because it can be difficult to know what years a real mare may have open.
Cheers, Kay
